The lightning-flash suggests the speed with which modern aircraft strike. The HistoryNo. 445 (All-weather Fighter) Squadron was formed at North Bay, Ontario, on 1 April 1953 and relocated at Uplands, Ontario, five months later. At the beginning of November 1956 the squadron flew overseas to join No. 1 Fighter Wing at Marville, France, as the first CF-100 unit in the R.C.A.F.'s No. 1 Air Division. The squadron number is the second new number created in the R.C.A.F. since the end of the Second World War. On the withdrawal of CF-100 aircraft from operational service, the squadron was disbanded on 31 December 1962. |
